A Song of Circles...

Life is a song of circles...intimate and interconnected...utterly maddening and wonderfully glorious...

However much one tries to compartmentalise life into neat pockets - past, present & future - the circles lead you on a merry dance. A dance so vital, that if one manages to look beyond the tears, the misery, the heartache, one can't help but be delighted with the stage that is set, the sheer exuberance and intricacy of it all...

How often do we look back and wince, knowing that it is going to  come back and pinch you when you least expect it to?
How often do we grin like fools at some mad deed, completely irreponsible and totally worth it just for the same reason - what can be more deserving of the risk than a memory that makes you grin ten, twenty years down the line?
How often do we panic on being confronted by ghosts from our past - ones that shake the foundations of the delicate balance of "the now" ...
The same past that has given us the courage to go on, the memories that become our warm blankets, the wisdom to bow to the inevitable " Que sara sara...'

Every day we live and breathe moments that have arrived in a long loop from some past deed in turn sending out ripples that will remind us in future of the present which will soon become the past...

Ah, life...

Seek n see

Look up
See the world - the scampering world
Close your eyes
Breathe deep
Feel the calm
Then take the plunge
To  do some scampering yourself
Or live in the calm
Seek the truth that sets you free.

To seek and to see means emerging from the shell that keeps us safe from the rhythm, the pulse, the pain, the rote that life is...it demands us to tap into courage we possess but keep buried deep within...then, life as we know it, changes...

Cleansing my soul...

Anticipation... sounds rude, somehow..
Hope... that's better. What a beautiful word... Is that it? Is that what I sense around me?
Silence... silence is loud in the air...Even as the wind combs my hair and tries to tug the pages from my hand, there is a stillness here...
Expectation... there now, found a word for this... a calm evening, an overcast sky, a gentle, tumbling breeze embracing everything in its path, the majestic neem nodding its proud head...
Again, a deep Quiet descends... i wonder at the many types of silences...the silvery silence of the night, the white silence of a winter moring, the weary silence of a hot afternoon, the companiable silence of dusk, the throbbing silence of loneliness, the cleansing silence of solitude...
But, this is different... this is the silence of hope, of trembling expectation, of a world holding its breath...and then...........Rain!

Who hugs you?

Pick me, Choose me, Love me...
A silent scream..
But how selfish of life
To demand more from what was just a dream.

Everyone wants to believe that the world revolves around their needs but somehow, the food for the soul is rudely ignored in favour of feeding the stomach and the ego.

Man, an essentially emotional being, has lost the ability to reach out and give a comforting touch, literally. Even worse, he has forgotten how to receive it. Any act of kindness and unselfish affection is viewed skeptically.

But don't these movers and shakers of today and tomorrow have painful thoughts that surface when they see a warm embrace? Who will pick me? Who will choose me?  Who loves me? Over anything and everything... At the end of the day, isn't that what we all strive for? To mean so much to someone that they drop everything to come give you a hug when you are down...

Do you have someone in your life like that? A friend? A parent? A sibling? A partner? Consider yourself lucky... you have someone to remind you of keeping your priorities right and not lose sight of what is important in this rat-race called life. Cherish them - they are rare jewels indeed.

In search of Imladris...

Aren't we all in search of something or the other everyday? Be it the next big sale (for Corporate biggies), or the next big sale ( for those who reap the theraputic benefits of a shopping splurge), or a tasty morsel, or a moment's peace, or of making that final leap before we decide that life is now neatly settled in an approved pattern and that we can finally sit back and enjoy it....aren't we all looking ahead and sighing?

I read some time ago that it is the selfish actions of man that makes the world go around...Ayn Rand nailed it...Do we ever do anything purely selfless? Aren't there motives behind our motives? And behind our lack of motives? And aren't we all in a rush to compare our achievements against the world's notion of success? To make sure that we aren't forgotten anytime soon?

When does man finally realize that he has done all he can? When is the line drawn? When do we turn towards the simpler things in life - peace, quiet, nature, love? When does man realize that all he wants is a hearth where he can be himself, where his worth is not measured by his achievements but just accepted for it actually is - all flaws acknowldeged, never being forced to fit into someone else's view of how he should be?

If the recognition of this simple truth comes early on in life, does it make one a loser? Someone who didnot dream big? Someone who didnot exploit his true potential? Someone who never reached for the skies, just because he was happy in his little spot on the blue globe?

Or will he firmly close the door on that yearning to find his Imladris and rush head first into the rat-race? Is that practicality or is it just plain cowardice?

I know what my last homely home looks like, I can see every sinlge brick and leaf in it, but when will I have the courage to enter it?
